What to Expect During Your DEXA Scan
Before Your DEXA Scan

- •Avoid calcium supplements for 24 hours before your appointment

During Your DEXA Scan
- •The examination usually takes around 10–20 minutes
- •You will lie on your back on a padded table
- •The scanner will slowly pass over your body
- •You will need to remain still while the images are taken

- •Our friendly radiographer will guide you throughout the scan
After Your DEXA Scan
- •You can return to your normal activities immediately
- •Our specialist radiologist will review your results
- •Your report will usually be sent to your referring practitioner on the same day or by the following day
